How it is worked out.

Weighted

Adds 0.5 for an Honors course and 1.0 for AP or IB, the most common rule. An F stays at 0.

Questions.

How is GPA worked out?
Each grade gets points on a 4.0 scale: A is 4.0, B 3.0, C 2.0, D 1.0 and F 0, with plus and minus grades in between. Multiply each by the course's credits, add them up and divide by the total credits.
What is the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?
Unweighted GPA treats every course the same, up to 4.0. Weighted GPA adds points for harder courses, commonly 0.5 for Honors and 1.0 for AP or IB, so it can go above 4.0.
Does my school count A+ as 4.3?
Some schools do; many stop at 4.0. Tick the box if yours counts A+ as 4.3, and check your school's handbook for its own rules.
Can a tutor help raise my grades?
Yes. Our tutors teach students in the US and Canada online, in your own time zone, from $4.99 a class. See online tuition.
