How do I convert CGPA to percentage in CBSE?
Multiply the CGPA by 9.5. A CGPA of 8.6 is 8.6 × 9.5 = 81.7%. CBSE gave this formula for its CGPA years, up to 2017.
Why 9.5 and not 10?
CBSE worked it out from the average marks of students in each grade band, so 9.5 matches real marks better than 10.
My university uses a different formula. Can I use this?
Yes. Choose a multiplier of 10, or enter your university's own multiplier. Always use the formula printed on your marksheet or in your university's rules.
How do I convert a percentage back to CGPA?
Divide by the same multiplier: for CBSE, 81.7 ÷ 9.5 = 8.6.
