01How the exam works
- Who runs it the National Testing Agency (NTA), as a computer-based test
- Three groups of tests languages, domain subjects matched to Class 12, and the General Aptitude Test
- Questions multiple choice; in 2025 every test had 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes
- Marking +5 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong one, 0 if left blank
- Syllabus domain subjects follow the NCERT Class 12 syllabus
- Every year check the Information Bulletin on cuet.nta.nic.in for the subjects, timings and dates
02Choosing your subjects
- Start from the course each university lists the CUET subjects it accepts for each programme; check those first
- Domain subjects choose ones you studied in Class 12, because the questions follow NCERT
- Language test reading comprehension (factual, literary and narrative passages), vocabulary and grammar

|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | Re-read the NCERT Class 12 chapters for each domain subject | Two chapters, with your own one-page summary of each |
| 3–4 | Chapter-wise multiple-choice practice | Timed sets of 25 questions per subject, plus 20 minutes of current affairs |
| 5 | Full mock tests at exam speed | One mock a day in the same time slot as your exam; review every mistake |
| 6 | Weak chapters and light mocks | Revise your summaries and error log; sleep at your exam-day time |
04Strategy in the hall
- Pace 50 questions in 60 minutes is about 70 seconds each, so do not get stuck
- Guessing with +5 and −1, a guess after ruling out even one option usually pays off
- Two rounds answer what you know first, mark the rest for review, then return
- Read every option NTA questions often include two answers that look right
05Exam-day checklist
- Admit card, printed, with the photograph and signature as instructed
- An original photo ID from the list on your admit card, such as Aadhaar
- Reach before the reporting time on your admit card
- Follow the dress code and the list of allowed items in the bulletin
How to use this guide
- Make NCERT Class 12 your main book for every domain subject.
- Take full mocks in the same time slot as your actual exam.
- Keep an error log and read it on the last two days instead of new material.
